I had the fortunate opportunity this summer to spend interning at a wirehouse. I learned a lot about the what it takes to be a successful FA, and that i’m not quite ready to start the production clock.

With the next recruitment season being held in October, i thought it’d
be a good chance to check out many of the big names that come on
campus… Goldman… Lazard… Lehman… Bear. Most of them have
summer programs where they prod and poke trainees. A
fraction get offers to work as a full-time analyst (doing what you did
in the summer). This usually lasts for two years where then the
decision is to go to business school or receive an offer to become an
associate. I was just wondering if any of you have any experiences
working in these shops, and could contrast what it’s like at national
wirehouse.

Are they playing a completely different game or are they actually very similar?
