For a while now, I have known that because of my experiences with Edward Jones some people tend to dismiss or mock my posts without any regard for the substance of my message. But, I have continued because, for the most part, it has been fun. Although, all along I have known that much of my time in this forum has been wasteful. This latest episode, with Volt or Windy creating an imitation moniker (not@jones) with the sole purpose of mocking me, has really pushed this past fun.

I would first like to say for everyone that I am not the person on not@jones’s grateful dead website. No one on this forum knows my real identity. I looked on broker check and the person not@jones thinks I am does not even work in this industry any more. I have been working for a mutual insurance carrier since 9/09 and have been doing much better than my Jones days. With all the honesty I have shown about my shortfalls, it seems ludicrous that the 100+ posts I have made about my current working experiences would be fake. So if you know this person, please do not link him to some of the garbage I have posted here.

But, beyond that, I think this event has pushed me to do something I should have done several months ago. As much as I have enjoyed our conversations about politics, gays, Edward Jones, religion, gay Edward Jones reps, abortion, war, peace, and all the rest. I think it is time for me to focus on the business that is important - being the best financial advisor I can possibly be. So, I have decided to retire Still@Jones and will no longer log-in under this name.

I have set some very aggressive (but manageable) goals for the next 12 months and I am committed to achieving them. If I do visit this site again (under a new moniker, of course), it will be in a professional context - to seek practical knowledge or to get feedback on some of my experiences. I will no longer come here to BS about current events or otherwise waste time.

I would like to thank all the people who have helped me get to this point in my career, especially Gaddock, B24, Moraen, Berkshire Bull, Anonymous, Ron14, RankStocks, and all the others who, knowingly or not, helped me work through the tough spots.

So with that, before I log out for one final time as Still@Jones, I would like to share with you a little poem I penned this morning:

I am the richest man in the world. I have a wife who loves me in spite of all my faults. I have four dogs. Two love only me. One loves everybody. One loves no one but is still very loyal. I enjoy my business. I love my farm and my home. I have a few close friends, and money has never been my God.”

Happy New Year 2010 - All the best to everyone!!!

Good luck to you Still@jones. Feel free to PM me if you return. I highly doubt I can help you with anything because I am a teller, but I would like to hear about your success, which is inevitable because you are humble enough to admit mistakes and move forward.

Still, I think it's a great idea to retire the Jones name, you probably should have earlier.  I'd encourage you to make a new name and stay on the forum.  Whether people want to talk politics or not, there remains a great deal of useful information and ideas to be gained.

I hope any member on here would not let one sourpuss deter them from participating, the more the merrier, and I told Wind the same thing when he said he was leaving.

To his defense, we still don’t know which screen name is Windy.  Worked very well.
