Hi all,

I'm active duty military right now and going to the reserves this summer and hoping to become an FA. Are most, if any, firms tolerant of reservists as long as you meet production and AUM goals?  What if you don't make goals because of being activated?  Does anyone have reservists that work for or with you?

Thanks for the inputs!

This topic has been discussed quite a few times here and certain firms are a bit more supportive/tolerant of reservists than others.

Merrill is very into military types. Wachovia is supportive of military types. Bear Stearns is supportive of military types.

I base this upon personal knowledge of how they deal with and/or dealt with reservists who got activated for Iraq.

I made a point to shift from SELRES to IRR when joining EDJ because I didn't want the reserves to intefere with building my business.  Being mobilized would be awful to building your business...or the lack thereof.

I encourage you to concentrate on building your business first and then reconsider the reserves later.

Good luck and thanks for serving!

IRR is being cut down… Also it is hard on your clients if you get activated. Merrill is very good with military. Good luck!
