There are plenty of companies that are ran by women CEO's and the executives tend to be mostly women, is this a coincidence? I think not.

"There are" is present tense while "ran" is past tense--very sloppy, actually illiterate.

CEO's is a possessive form of CEO--it should be CEOs although it is a mistake commonly made, including by me.

Did the schools stop teaching correct grammar when they started teaching the joys of diversity?

You should proofread thesis projects for doctorate students, at least your critiques would be appreciated and they’ll even pay you.

Just curious, were you an English major in college?  Journalism maybe?

Nope I have no relations to journalism.  Just trying to grab a current example off the top of my head of the female glass-ceiling.

Is English your native language?

I'm male and I say that only to try to show my comments are not motivated by self-interest.

I think glass ceiling does exist in our society for reasons logical/legal AND illogical/illegal.  Math capability may explain corporate world male/female disparity, but what about the US Senate having 90% white male?  How about the fact that we even have to debate "if the country is ready for female president"?  Just a couple other examples that come to mind.

I think some pockets of the full service environment is down right hostile toward woman, not only in positions of power.  When I was starting out, we got some brokers that had absolutely no class.  They smoke in the office against the law, the curse left and right.  I can imagine some female brokers would not even want to be in that kind of environment.

I can also personally attest to another incidence.  One year I moved from one company to another with a female broker.  I was dating her at the time but of course this was not disclosed to hiring manager.  She had slightly higher asset and production than I, yet I got accepted to our top target firm and she did not.

Im currently at a discounter.  I am making the move to full-service simply because it would be more fullfilling and more financially rewarding.

i don't know what it's like at other discount firms but at my firm there is a lot of pressure to meet some pretty steep numbers only to get a couple grand (if you're lucky) thrown at you at the end of the quarter and a pat on the back.  then you get to start all over the next quarter.  feels like hopping on a hamster wheel every day.

i'd rather work my @ss off for a few years so that I can one day make the money I want to make.  It's never going to happen here.

Well said.  The main difference is that you can become licensed to do fee based business, where you are paid (on an on-going basis) based on the value of the assets you hold.

This is vs. transactional business, where every month you start all over.
