I'm just about to go into production at a wirehouse, and starting out I fully expect to cold call the hell out of the phone book.  Bu tmy question is what is a reasonable numer of cold calls to make in a given day?  I think the hours between 8-11, 3-7 would be most productive and spend the middle of my day arranging face to face meetings or cold walking.

Blake ... while in most normal forums it would be kosher to share your name here it's another story because of some of the bi-polar disorders a few posters have.  Create another log on ID.

 
Search the forum.  There are tons of threads about cold calling.  Go check out the 500 day war thread in the prospecting section for some additional detail.

You need to make as many calls, doorknocks, whatever to get 40 contacts a day, every day.  This will be your path to success.  As far as using your name, probably not a good idea, although the only people on this forum that are negatively affected are those that choose to be keyboard warriors, throwing challenges out, using gay slurs, and generally being an idiot.  Ask my friend Big John.

What are the wire people telling you is expected? A friend of mine at ML was told 250/day

40 contacts a day is a good rule of thumb, but at the same time if your not getting alot of leads out of those 40 than set it higher or change your pitch...what

40 contacts is a good rule of thumb, but if your not getting leads than you'll want to make more or change your pitch....in this line of work whatever you think is adequate usually isn't.  So when you think your done, stick around for 30 more min or so and try and steal a few more leads!
