I am relocating the the Charlotte area and would appreciate any direction that can be given as far as transitioning my career.  I am not currently a producer (series 24 manager) but am looking to learn more about how to seek employment.  It has been a month of frustration as recruiter after recruiter wants me to sell insurance.  I am currently employed with a big 6 firm.  Thanks for any advice!

What exactly do you want to do?

Honestly I have come to the realization that to make any real money in this business you need to be a producer.  My background is sales and I do enjoy relationship building.  The challange has been to convince employers that I want to sell.  I believe they see my current position as a 24 and see me as one who stifles production (compliance).

You may find a role as a producing manager, the salary will help while you build a book.

Producers need to have the capacity for independent, creative, cogent thought. Compliance people don't have that.
