As you may or may not have read in some of the postings I have posted, I am new to the business. Just came on to a wirehouse as a junior about a month ago. I spend the majority of my day studying and even more of the time on the phones making cold calls. This is one hard business to make it in, but it is feasible. As a rookie its tough , i mean it gets pretty boring dialing 10 hours a day while the senior brokers on my team are riding me. (though i know most of the reason they are hard on me at times is testing me to see If i am able to withstand it, after all this is a business where you deal with rejection day in and day out.) anyways i am getting pretty off topic i just want to congratulate all who have made it and not to sound corny you are all an inspiration. I strive for the success you have all attained and seeing how hard this business is i know you have all earned it. All these postings and advice have been extremely helpful in getting me through this “bootcamp” stage of my career and just wanted to say thanks. best of luck to all of you and just keep doing what your doing.
Prime example!!! This guy right here sounds like he wants the advice of a seasoned vet to help him with his career. When all he gets is the advice from a car insurance rep. I am really taking offense to how this  Car Insurance rep responds to posts.

If this NASD newbie is so successful why does he post messages in the rookies and trainess lounge??? I will not let any more !

LOL…NASD NEWBIE… This Kid doesnt even have a series 7 license! Leave this Message board right now, If not you will force me to expose your sad real life!!! LOL… I  do not care, If i have to expose your real name and address. All i want is for you to not to be so critical when somones post a message looking for help!
Help someone. just like the time when Al Bundy gave you your first client!!!

Morgan Stanley coundn't agree with you more. That's exactly why they cut poor producing trainees and revamped the system to resemble the ML/SB system. The initial cost should be made up in the end if they have anywhere near the success the ML program has.

On a side note, does ML REALLY have 40-50% of thier trainees still in the field??? Amazing if true.

There is quite simply no reason a vertical team works. Want proof? look at how many trainees at MS got cut off. Look at how much money in training that cost the firm.

I think ML and SB are right on the money with their training programs as are Ed Jones.

Is that true? I have to admit it's been a long time since I've seen the ML program and the MS program has yet to be rolled out, but it sounds as though it's going to focus on getting trainees into teams to increase their survival rates. That's not the scheme I saw at ML...

Does anyone at MS know when MS plans to roll out their new training program with the new teaming aspect?

Also, If I am in the middle of interviews with SB and ML should I slow play it and see what MS is going to offer?

Best of luck to you.  I think the locker room atmosphere is uncalled for.  Grin and bear it.  The less said the better.

People who pick on you are probably very insecure.

Soon I believe. I just started the that everone there before me did. Sounds like my training is a lot like SB to be honest. A recruiter called me and describer their program, and it was nearly identical to the program I just entered. There will only be 700 trainees this time around, cutting the numbers in half, so a few changes are already being made. It's hard for me to speak for the other MS offices around the country b/c mine offers tremendous support fom within.

I'm pretty sure that's true mike, but don't take my word for it.  I actually read it in Registered Rep, funny enough.  It discussed John Mack's hiring of James Gorman from ML, and how Gorman hired a few ML guys to run the retail brokerage side. Same article that stated the 40-50% number I believe. If I can dig it up I'll post it in here...
