I'm a sales professional, most recently as sales manager with GS.  I have a S7, 24, 63 and CFP(r)...BUT NO BOOK.  I'm looking to move back to Denver, but haven't been able to find an RIA or independent that will hire without a book.   I've called a number of RIAs and independent shops, but have found that both want you to have a book. I'm not afraid of calling (as i expect that's what i'll be doing for the next 10 years), but i'm wondering if anyone here has experience with this?

I've had conversations with the big wires, and am still convinced that the best course of action is independent/RIA (though admittedly am still considering it).  Yes i realize, the strugges and challenges of starting within the independent channel without a salary, etc...simply wondering if anyone knows if this is even possible to get a job with an existing RIA or do I need to start one?

Thank you all for your input; truly appreciate it!

You wouldnt happen to be in the Atlanta area, would you? I know of a rep there that was looking to hire a CFP, no existing book necessary.

Thanks
