Like to get your thoughts on an event.  As more and more Advisors contemplate becoming an RIA, most based on my experience want to find a custodian firm which they feel can be a good fit for their RIA practice.  The problem is, sometimes taking the time to really check "under the hood" can require a lot of time.

I'm proposing the 1st annual custodian olympics.  All of the custodian firms (i.e. TradePMR, Schwab, TD, Fidelity, Etc., Etc.,) be on a panel.  Have an impartial moderator.  Invite all prospective Advisors in the area simply to ask "the hard questions" of each custodian firm.  Limit the 'sales' pitch of each custodian firm.  Make the questions/topics driven by the advisors themselves.

I'm thinking of launching this initiative first in San Francisco but take it elsewhere.  I want to first determine if such an event would be useful before we all join together to promote it to a publisher.

What do you all think?

Thanks!
