I have just accepted a new position as a FA that will require me to locate, does anyone have any prospecting advice for moving to a new city when they don’t know anyone?

It depends on your target market, the firm’s name recognition and the branch’s marketing support.

It will be very tough moving with a little-known firm, since neither you nor your firm will be familiar.  Go with a  big name if you can.

Who’s your target market?  Where have you been successful in the past?  It will be very difficult to learn new prospecting techniques AND overcome the relocation challenge at the same time.

Each industry sector has a different approach to marketing support.  Be sure to focus on your firm’s strengths.  This is not a time to swim cross-stream.

If you and your firm have different approaches and strengths, then it may be time to change firms.  You’re going to lean on the firm’s local reputation for a while, so make sure you’re compatible.
