The primary role of the Financial Planner is to serve as the
local financial planning expert and coordinator in their respective
market while interfacing with the Financial Planning Center. The
Financial Planner will take the lead in the data gathering process,
planning construction and delivering team based recommended strategies
to the client. The Financial Planner is also responsible for providing
local advocacy for financial planning services as well as
implementation expertise. This position collaborates and performs as
part of the relationship management team to execute the client
strategy.
Essential Job Functions:
Planning Expertise
- Lead or partner in High Net Worth client meetings, as
determined by the relationship team to identify client needs and
provide education based on the urgency and prioritization of the
client needs.
- Work as a team with the Financial Planners in each market as
well as the Financial Planning Center in terms of sharing expertise,
sharing best practices and participating in National or Regional
Planning Initiatives.
- Working with the Financial Planning Center, ensure the proper
construction of the appropriate financial plan to meet the client's
goals and objectives.
- Develop a specialty in addition to being a planning generalist.
Presentation
- Partner with the Relationship Manager to ensure implementation
of recommendations by leading the client through the decision making
process by explaining the recommendations, the pros and cons, as well
as the consequences of not following the advice.
- Lead or partner with team members in overcoming the client's
objections to recommendations to allow the Relationship Manager to
implement and close the business.
Marketing & Training
- Work with the Financial Planning Center in developing
marketing, education and training initiatives in order to achieve
financial planning goals and objectives throughout the assigned
territory.
- Provide training to the field on planning topics and techniques.
- Represent field point of view and make recommendations to
management and support partners regarding the effectiveness of the
financial planning tools, training, marketing strategy, collateral and
communications.
Reputation
- Network in the community and with the COI's in particular to
develop visibility, generate referrals and further business
development objectives.
- Maintain current industry knowledge in financial planning
trends, strategies and tactics making recommendations to management
and support partners regarding service enhancements.
Sales
- Maintain broad knowledge of Bank’s products and services and recommend when appropriate.
Required Qualifications:
- CFP Designation
- 5-7 years financial planning experience
- 5-7 years of broad based banking/investment/sales experience
- 3-5 years client management experience and proven client relations orientation
- In-depth experience with financial planning and investment planning software applications with customized Excel modeling
- Excellent written, verbal and presentations skills
- Ability to transfer strategy to tactical plans and implement
- Self motivated, goal and results driven
- Strong influencing and team orientation skills
- Listens Effectively
- Expert Client Discovery Skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced knowledge and relevant experience in a specialized
discipline such as Corporate Executive Planning, Business Succession
Planning, Estate Planning, Charitable Planning, Taxation, etc.
- Product marketing experience
We are looking for a candidate to have the CFP credential. The
ideal candidate needs to be comfortable in a sales presentation
environment and therefore strong enough to be in front of a client on
sales calls and be confident enough to promote client’s Private Bank.
Ideally we are looking for experience in the banking industry
and/or experience as an independent Planner who is comfortable with a
relationship based approach with the client.
