What if I join a new firm (7 year deal) and they close down my branch in a year. Should I ask for the wording to say in my offer “If firm closes my
office then non-compete is void.” I do not want to have to commute 70
miles one way to work.

Are you asking about a non-compete issue if you decide to bounce? Based on my question regarding a non-compete in the case of a merger or acquisition which you might want to look at, it appears that material changes to a situation make it more difficult to enforce a non-compete. Check out my previous question and Bill’s response.
