What would be your own Ideal Practice?

Only engi-nerds...er I mean engineers. Most people hate em, we love em. They ask good questions and once you can answer them, they are loyal clients.

Plus they have mmmmmmmoney.

I enjoy working with the 40-50 year old working clients.  Obviously they have to have inherited or changed jobs after saving up a bunch in their 401k.  Unfortuanately it takes many more of them than the average client.  I also like hearing the words, “I trust you,” so engineers are not my favorites.

I was an engineer in a past life.  I'll trade doctors for engineers all the day long!

2200 clients, all in 12 year surrender annuities and whole life. Oh yeah, no account bigger than $75,000. Average age: ancient, cranky and senile. With a son whose a lawyer … for the NASD.

70% Busy Boomer business owners and executives,  30% Retirees.

80% fee based, and 20% commissions/mark-up based.

A team of 4 or 5 with a couple assistants.

i want a book full of cats that inherited someone’s estate

Jun 6, 2006 4:43 pm

How about a 70 million dollar book of C share annuities or L share annuites that are now paying trails.  I know a guy that gets $500,000/yr on annuity trails.  Now that is an easy book to run.

Clearly, you've only met mid-level engineers.

Oil engineers? Middle class? All of ours (at least for local demographics are upper middle to upper class) have at least $600k under management, most have upwards of $800k in 401k rollover accounts. Not to mention funds in personal accounts.

Is that not a sizeable account? I'm not being snide - but if it isn't then it is for our area. ??? These guys are so tight they squeek.

For some reason, docs all think they're deities, unlike engineers who really are!
