FINRA has published their choices for the new FINRA board of directors.

I know three of these guys--and have been to the home of one of them.

Note the mix of the group--three small firm and three large firm with one mid-size firm to break ties should the small firm and large firm members split.

There are also several other governors on the board so these seven will not be all that are deciding things.

If I were voting I would vote for all of them except one--who I know well, and who is very slippery in spite of his rather impressive resume of committees served on and so forth.  I've always had the impression that he was running right along the line regarding rules and staying one step ahead of the cops.

Small Firm

Robert A.Muh CEO, Sutter Securities, Inc.

G. Donald Steel President, Planned Investment Company, Inc.

Duncan F.Williams President, Duncan-Williams, Inc.

Mid-Size Firm

W. Dennis Ferguson Executive Vice President and Director of Clearing,

Sterne, Agee & Leach, Inc.

Large Firm

Richard F. Brueckner CEO, Pershing LLC

Robert J.McCann President,Merrill Lynch Global Private Client Group

Thomas A. Russo Vice Chairman and Chief Legal Officer, Lehman Brothers Inc.

For what it's worth, I have communicated with 2 of the above gentlemen, too. I have never been at their homes. Their initials are:

RJM and TAR

Based upon my limited communications with them, I rate each a STRONG BUY.

Damn Yum, how will the kiddos be able to know who  you're talking about.

Your two are not my three--but between the two of us we are familiar with five of them.

As I said, one of them I would not vote for in spite of what appears to be an ideal background.

At least one of them is almost over qualified--actually two of them, but then isn't super qualified what any board needs?

Dick, which one would you not vote for?

AbsoluteLEH. If I could vote, Tom Russo would be named lead BOD member. Talk about OVERQUALIFIED.

For what it's worth, WHS also has nice things to say about RJM. WHS is also a gentleman in my book.
