Player- There are over 9000 reps and you are talking about 2????? Give it a break. I know of 1 guy that left Merrill a few weeks ago, is that the end of Mother Merrill???
Noggin...aka..Dip stick

Checkout the numbers, are they still listed on the VI system, or just like production figures are they not for your eyes ?

Ship is heading down.........................the sad part is many good people will suffer for a few greedy GP's....that just couldn't admit they did something wrong, and they still deny it? What is up with that?

Forgive him Father, for he knows not what's he's just done.

ok, starka, why do you have such antipathy for jones? thanks, hawg

Jul 22, 2005 6:16 pm

hawg,

1. look at your p&l and what you pay for stuff like communications.  now look at the tools you have avail to you.  I'll help you out. you pay around 1400 bucks a month from your P&L for that stupid satellite system that does not have email. BTW unlike the crap repeated at regional meetings, you will not need a second BOA when your firms decides to get email.

Look at your portfolio tool compared to what else is out there.

bottom line:  GP's suck up proffits from areas you haven't even thought yet.  And as a result you are paying for stuff like better tech and communications that you are not getting so they can pocket more.

You see enough of this type of stuff and it really starts to piss you off.  Then watch some of the nepotism and the way those who inherit offices are held up as examples and it gets you more irritated.

If you have any brain at all.  You will some day realize that there are many more suitable investments and services you can offer your clients to help them reach their goals than you have at Jones.  You will also realize that you can do it while making more money.

All this because you get the monkey/GP off your back.

Every firm has overhead.  If you are indy you have your own overhead. The difference is the amount of value you get from the overhead you pay.  At Jones that value is minimized to maximize GP return.

Stop repeating what they tell you and talk to people at other firms and get your calculator out and do the math!

WOW! A whole three left? 6 people quit our local Walmart last week, guess they are going down also..

exdrone, i’m sure you may have some valid points. i know i could make more going indie. at this stage “making more” is not my primary goal. working less is. i don’t really want to go through the work to convert my clients to indie. jones got me to where i am today. as far as nepotism is concerned, i’m all for it! i’ve given part of my book away to family members to help them get started. jones isn’t perfect, but it’s far from being the evil organization some of these people try and portray it as on this forum. but , you have to take most of these criticisms with a grain of salt, because many of them resort to name calling and rudeness like “if you have any brain at all”. how am i supposed to take anything serious from someone who uses terms like that without even knowing a person. it’s silly and immature. which has led me to my conclusion that the peolpe on this forum who hate jones have some axe to grind. it doesn’t really matter to me, because i will continue to recommend it to my friends and family as a great place to work. it’s just sad that these people can’t move on. hawg

As the poet said, “Methinks thou doth protest too much”, hawg.  Perhaps your sensitivity is the other side of the “axe to grind” coin.  Witness your response to my earlier post; immediately you perceived an attack against your beloved Jones, where none existed.

Jul 22, 2005 8:05 pm

starka, you have a great point! i’m trying to figure out why a forum that is supposed to be a broker forum, has turned into a jones hating forum. why would i even waste my time. i’ll never convince anyone else of anything different, and they’ll never convince me, because i’m happy and they’re not. so i’ll just move along, and go back outside and mow the yard (it’s hot, i came in for a glas of iced tea and got side tracked). plus if i say anything, even at a reasonable, respectful tone, i am a fanatical koolaid drinker, a drone, or i doth protest to much. beleive me my wife would tell you, i’m not that deep! what you sees is what you gets. later, have a great weekend and and a nice life!

hawg breath,

I don't hate the IR's I hate the leadership, they betrayed the IR's, BOA's and a great tradition, that is what I hate..........and so should you?    Read on.......pilgrim

Every comment I have made on here has been toward the Leadership Doug "3 Mil" Hill is the worst of the bunch of greedy GP's, they live off the efforts of good IR's , just look at how much they charge you monthly for your computer system?

Many of us asked for months about the SEC investigation, and they would never tell us the TRUTH, would they?

Then when I saw some of the IR's they were bringing into St Louis and making into GP's, it made me sick , and what finally did it was when I herd them calling these IR's Top Producers  when they got to St Louis, and IR's out in the field knew it was a LIE.......That just kinda ruined the whole Jones ethics thing for me.

When you are a Top Producer you have pride in being one, and if your FIRM decides to start calling every GP that was an IR a Top Producer, there is a ethics Problem......so I left....Jones changed, I didn't........case closed

Player-enough already, you made your point, move on…

Jul 25, 2005 4:35 am

Noggin,  I did it’s your turn to move on…

Jul 26, 2005 2:53 am

Player- That's actually a pretty good comeback.... especially for you!

Noggin

Please give an intelligent comment on this?    Do you agree or not?

Jul 29, 2005 5:04 am

player, i do agree with part of what you wrote. they (jones management)do point to top producers and don’t necessarily differentiate between those of us who started from scratch and those that “cherry picked” a great office. but, i have never really been bothered by it. it’s not really a question of ethics. they don’t lie they just don’t point out the vast difference between the two. i’m not sure if they do it on purpose or not. i guess it really doesn’t matter to me. they leave me alone. i make good money. i come and go as i please and i’m happy. i don’t even have to attend any meetings if i don’t want to. i could car less about all the corporate sh*t, so it goes in one ear and out the other. i love working there. thanks, hawg breath III
