This board needs a moderator.  End of story.  I really can’t believe there isn’t already a mod here.

.

Bond Guy signing offBondGuysdog, if you want to parody

me have at it but, I have to tell you, there has got to be a better way for

you to spend your time. I know there are better ways for me to spend my

time so here’s the deal, I’m done helping out here until Bondguysdog is

gone. If these are the kind of people the group wants here that’s Ok,

good luck with that. Personally, I no longer have time for it.

Bond Guy signing off

Now a real rookie is loosing a good resource.

I detest the people who come to this forum and verbally masturbate.

Whoever these trolls are should seriously contemplate suicide!!!

responses to the drivel:

Pot calling the kettle black.

Such violent, hostile attitudes:  now where is the splenda I ask.

bondsguy:  why couldn't you handle the compliment? now you started an uproar and joedabrkr (lacking in splenda) wants visitors to get fired.

The people running the site don't have time for you children:  it would be a FULL time job since there's such nastiness.

I responded to topics about fair hiring practices, imus, movies, sales practices: these are off topics: sorry to rain on your parade Joedabrkr but you don't have to be in the business to post here.   So now you've joined Bobby in trying to BULLY other posters off the site.

I see, it's ok for the Rutger's Womens BBall team to just toughen up and not be so sensitive for being called names by Don Imus (after all Al Sharpton has done so much worse, not to mention Snoop Dogg) but let someone make fun of Bond Guy and it's off to the land of snit for him!

Unbelievable scenario! Will Bond Guy ever return unscathed, or has his reputation been shattered forever? Stay tuned, folks !

He'll be back. He just wanted some attention and to see how many people would beg him not to leave.

Good for Bondguy, bad for all of us rookies.  I, like Bondguy, come to this site to get/give advice and toss around ideas about this industry.  This really is an amazing resource, it's not like you could walk into your office and ask some of these questions and get straight answers like you do here.  Unfortunately for guys like Bondguy and myself this has become a place for degenerates and guys who have been in the biz forever and need to vent their frustrations on some newbie.  I come on here and ask very simple questions, yes newbie questions, but I don't asked to be told I will fail and need to get out of the business.  That honestly helps no one, criticism isn't always bad but there is a time and place for everything.  Don't waste this valuable resource.

Disclaimer:  I am not directly comparing myself to Bondguy, he is a very wise tenured advisor while I am just a newbie.  I am only comparing us in our desires to have the give and take exchange of advice.

Joe,

Not for nothing, but, you know what? YOU are IMHO one of the worst offenders.

You jump in on every fight and add your snark. You perpetuate the bickering at almost every opportunity.

Don't anyone get me wrong, I don't disagree with Bondguy's assessment that there is a lot of air that could/should be let out of this forum. There are lots of threads that I (personally) don't even bother with. The Rookies and Trainees and the What's up at Firms folders are vast wastelands of Edward D Jones bashing and bickering.

Prospecting isn't a float my boat folder in that I prospect in my own way and for my own purposes (which I've described before).  It seems to have become the unofficial "Annuities: Yes or No?" folder. Once you've said your piece, what's the point?

If the powers that be won't do anything about the travesty that those folders have become how can anyone expect any of the rest of the folders to be any better?

There is another internet corralary(?) that applies in this case: The more dramatic the exit, the more likely it is that the poster will be back. It's sorta like the arsonist that can't help but be there when the fire trucks arrive.

Bondguy, we already have one of these guys  http://redwing.hutman.net/~mreed/warriorshtm/royals.htm

and one is more than enough AND you don't pass the "Holy Grail" test of King... "Must be a king!" "How do you know?" "He don't got sh@ all over him!"

Great discussion. Interesting that some owners of name equity here would argue to squelch this type of free debate.

I do not agree with you, at least not completely, but I appreciate your frank input.

There are quite likely some threads where I should just resist the urge to add my 2 cents and let them die a natural death.

Then again whomit, I have never gone down in a big flame war with a fellow poster and ended up being banned.   In all seriousness I do like how you took the volume back just a notch since your return.  It's allowed some of your very useful thoughts to shine through, and yet there's still some humor.  I mean that as a sincere compliment!

I don't think BG is just being a drama queen here.  I think some of these newer personas are completely disruptive and obnoxious, and they add very little if any substance to the boards.  Someone else used the term "masturbation", and I think it's an interesting analogy.  It's like some of these new folks are bored and aren't really interested in learning or teaching, just stirring the pot and drawing attention to themselves.  For all the potshots we take at BH from time to time, at least he contributes a unique and experienced perspective and some useful ideas too.  I fail to see how lengthy repetitive posts about how Suze is so awesome offer value to ANY of us after the first several repetitions.

I hope he comes back but I think he's seriously pissed off, and I can see why he would be.  I honestly think this "bondguysdog" is a real jerk who just got a bug up his butt and decided to make trouble.  It's too bad. and a very selfish way of getting attention.  It does not serve any benefit to our virtual community.

Let me guess David, this is the part where you claim credit for sparking such a wonderful cerebral discussion of ethics?

I hear the whinnying of a high horse passing through town…

It still amazes me how pathetic some people lives must be... To have nothing to do all day but to disrupt an internet forum... To place thought into ways to waste time and bring a semblance of joy to their useless lives by inciting other people needlessly...

Pathetic.

If you have faith in the power of ideas, you can believe that Bond Guy is being held hostage by his dog.

Apr 17, 2007 4:24 pm

"Then again whomit, I have never gone down in a big flame war with a fellow poster and ended up being banned.   "

This is a lie. I'm sorry that I didn't take the time to address it as such when you first floated it,, but I wanted to move the discussion off of me and so I let the lie lay.

I was never banned for a flame war. I got banned because I was making remarks to a poster that had the name "Sexylady" and my remarkes were deemed to be too sexually flirtatious in nature. The poster named SexyLady was tossed, and I got tossed as collateral damage.

Meanwhile, my only intent was to diffuse a flame war wherein you (among others) couldn't seem to just let it go. There are plenty topics that go unanswered here. Lots of people get ignored, but you and your friends (of which I'm willing to remember BondGuy was one, but I could well be mistaken) kept going at SL again and again. If she were ignored/ and or treated with a tad of courtesy, she would have left long ago.

That's why I say that it is (IMHO most) often you and "the usual gang of idiots" (As the writers of Mad Magazine have always referred to themselves) who create the circus atmosphere, and then you complain when the place stinks like elephant dung!

Why, yes I do. Thanks for asking.  My husband however has the market cornered, so to speak, in that area.

Just doing my part to elevate the tone of discussion here

Apr 17, 2007 4:54 pm

Whomit I think “lie” is a somewhat inflammatory term but I appreciate hearing your side of the story.  I would also argue that some of your prior posts were pretty over the top.  No offense intended.

You have a point.  It is  illogical and counterproductive to spend my time flaming trolls when others with legitimate concerns/questions/issues are ignored.  A waste of my time, as well.

When I think back on some of SL’s inane, provocative posts, I am not sure that I agree that she was deserving of a “tad of courtesy”, at least not beyond that minimum level of civility that any human(or board visitor) should expect.  Regardless, it would have probably been far more effective to ignore her posts after an initial attempt to politely reply.  After all, what trolls crave is attention.

Thanks again for your thoughts.

One of the most wide open forums on the net use to be bikeforums.net. You think the Lance Armstrong wannabes are obnoxious on the road? Try going on a forum with them! Finally, after years of having new members driven away by bad behavior the moderators looked at their wallets and realized it had to stop. They needed new member money. The moderators stepped in and started booting people. The money thing finally outweighed the entertainment value of watching Noobs get their heads handed to them for asking which comfort bike to buy. Thus bikeforums transformed from a forum masquerading as a an informational site, to the what is now the Go-to site on the web for bicycle information. The same thing just happened on P-net. There's a message there that the moderators here haven't gotten yet.

Fact is this forum is what we make it. It can be the Go-to informational site on the web or it can continue to be what it is.

Now on to some specific responses:

BGsdog- You are an articulate person. That tells me something good about you. You probably have much positive to contribute. I'd appreciate it if you would do so under a different screen name.

Whomit - I had a hard time following your posts under your previous ID. My reading comprehension is still challenged under your new ID. I'm still trying to figure out where I said the Rutgers BB team had to toughen up? That's because I never said or implied it, not that it matters. Maybe my posts challenge your reading comprehension as well? I guess that makes us even.

BH - You are another guy who seems somewhat misdirected. Your posts are mix of good content and inappropriate content. Sometimes on the same thread.

Goforbroke - You can hang out anywhere on the web. If you're not an advisor or candidate to become one, why here?

I too have been on this forum for a long time. I changed my screen name last year to preserve my anonymity. I've taken plenty of punches here and coming of age in a tough big city board room did plenty to toughen my skin. So this isn't about my ability to take what's being thrown out here. I can dish back with the best of them. And Put was the best. This is about the senseless moronic behavior that drives the good contributors away. There's nothing wrong with a spirited debate, a difference of opinion, or even some good natured ribbing. Not to mention not to mention putting the smack down to obvious trolls like the Suze lady. But thread after thread goes down the tubes with same senseless BS. If the moderators, who apparently don't pay much attention, won't stop it, it's up to us.

What I'm saying here is I've had enough. I'm tired of it. I don't need to come here to have someone call me a liar over $154,000 of production. I don't need to come here to have someone disingenuously tell me that they parodied my screen name out of respect.

You don't have to like me. You don't have to believe me, just don't call me a liar. And don't make a joke out of the good I try to do here. It's that simple.

All of you are smart people. We could use brain power to make this a great place.

One final note, it's tax time. Everyone here make all the money they wanted to make this past year? If not, you all work in a 100% commission business, why are you wasting time here?
