Very clever! Another effing asshole to deal with.

Maybe it's me but it seems that this forum has degraded in quality over the past few months. We're now at the Jr. high school level.

For my part I've come here to try to do some good. Help out the noobs and the rookies.  And doing so takes time away from business. Yet, I justify that as a part of giving back to a business that has given my family and I so much.

Coming to this forum is about learning or giving. What I can't figure out is why someone would take the time to come here for any other reason. Lately though, there is a group that comes here just to bust balls. They add little to the collective knowledge of the group and do much to detract from the intended nature of this board. Are they advisors? If they are it too neatly explains the high failure rate among us. More likely 23 year old idiots with nothing but time on their hands and a lot of growing up to do. Their posts certainly make them look as such.

BondGuysdog, if you want to parody me have at it but, I have to tell you, there has got to be a better way for you to spend your time. I know there are better ways for me to spend my time so here's the deal, I'm done helping out here until Bondguysdog is gone. If these are the kind of people the group wants here that's Ok, good luck with that. Personally, I no longer have time for it.

I hear ya. There are about 4 people whose posts I actually read now. I used to cruise over to this site a couple times a day to check things out.  Now its a quick read over the morning coffee and maybe for a couple minutes during lunch but thats it...

There are a bunch of clowns running around this place now... A pack of jacka$$es that announce their ways like a chimp pounds on their chest...

Apr 16, 2007 8:32 pm

Why so angry? In fact, I admire you, the parody is not personal, rather, about the apparent ego that screen names aquire over time.

Your tagline about your dog is humorous. I guess anything other than between you and your dog is inappropriate. I don't mean to insult you or your dog.

Meaningful content is good, so is a little humor. There is plenty of negative stuff here, and Bond Guy's Dog is a good dog, not a mean or bad dog.

Anyway, 23 year olds can be smart, and on and off topic, and sassy and all, in short, credible, 23 in dog years is about 161 human years. Can you imagine how wise we might be at that age?

It is funny that you got so mad. Sorry, it really is.

Noboby wants to lose you - so you either have to lighten up, or this dog dies.

I thought my posts were thoughtful.

Frankly, this dog's ego is very small - only a few posts. So you just say the word, and I'll kill the dog.

Anyone else care to comment about the dog, or maybe a slightly bigger perspective on the issue of appropriateness here?

Bond Guy, you say the word, and right here and now, I will terminate the dog in a humane fashion. But not without a little growl.

I do think you are one of the smartest people here.

Apr 16, 2007 9:19 pm

I see, it's ok for the Rutger's Womens BBall team to just toughen up and not be so sensitive for being called names by Don Imus (after all Al Sharpton has done so much worse, not to mention Snoop Dogg) but let someone make fun of Bond Guy and it's off to the land of snit for him!

Jesus Bond guy, man up wouldja?

Yes, there are distracting elements in here. How has it ever been different? When I was here back in '03 there were a lot of the same type of guys here doing a lot of the same type of things. Personally. I judge the post by the post, if it says something I can learn from, I learn from it. If it doesn't I learn from that too.

"I justify that as a part of giving back to a business that has given my family and I so much."

First of all it's "me" not "I", a business that has given me...

Secondly, what do you want? A medal or a chest to pin it on?

Do you really think that somebody is going to be so dazzled by your brilliance that they are going to change their life based on something they read on an anonymous internet chat board? That's delusional! Not to mention condescending and pedantic!

I happen to look forward to posts with your handle (generally) mostly in the General tab. I don't come here to teach or preach or even to argue, I come here because people in this industry are generally some of the smarter people in sales (a curve that I must admit is weighted back by the low hiring standards of "certain firms").

But if you want to leave, don't let the door hit you in the azz on the way out. I've seen much better leave much classier joints than this one. OTOH if you're going to stay, drop the drama queen routine, the popularity vote spiel. There is no ownership on the web, so stop trying to carve out a piece of real estate for yourself.

As I said, I like ya, but I do not agree with this hissy fit.

Apr 16, 2007 10:19 pm

Well said.

So there is no ownership on the web, which kind of turns the idea of carving a piece on of it on the web seem a little silly.

But it would be terrible if bond guy left, and only bond guy's dog remained, and a lot of people, especially Bond Guy, ended up hating the dog for eternity.

We need some others to weigh in here, does the dog live or die?

I'm happy to stand up for what I believe, but if enough folks complain, the dog gets it.

I just want to be bond guys dog.

Yeah: I see bondsguy's point.  He would immediately think you were going to spoof him or his posts.  It might have been better to ask his permission to use the tagline first.  Or to let him know your intentions of how you will use the name.  Better to be original in your screen name.

I would "dog gone it" after reading his comments if I were you.

Apr 16, 2007 10:34 pm

So, does bond guy’s dog die?

Apr 16, 2007 10:38 pm

Hmmm, I suggest you write BondGuy a pm UNLESS his mail box is FULL! …and let him know that you plan to “retire” the dog – he doesn’t have to die and then resume your other posting name…

Apr 16, 2007 10:49 pm

You might think I am holding the dog hostage, but it's a catch 22, 'cause I don't want cave into political correctness now.

I enjoyed reading some of bond guys old posts, and he seems smart and likeable, that's why I chose him.

But you are saying, I should just tell him here that the bondguysdog  retreats into the woods, and that should save him face, without weighing in on the meaning of his protest. Kind of like just paying the Stamp Tax and not having a Tea Party.

We should just let him make a speech and go back to England.

One vote for staying.

One vote for dog suicide.

Apr 16, 2007 11:09 pm

Let's not use he word, kill or suicide.  Retire is much nicer.

You've made it clear you have good intentions and chose your name to COMPLIMENT bondguy as you have made it also clear you are an admirer of his.  You have done this right off the bat. Therefore, since he knows you had good intentions and didn't want to parady or spoof him then it seems unless he is very sensitive that he shouldn't mind.

Try keeping bondsguy dog screenname, give it some time, and see if he (bondsguy) continues to post here; otherwise, guess you have your answer. Otherwise, as I suggested, drop him a note.  It's between you and bondguy to work it out; if he doesn't throw you a bone, come to your own conclusion.

That's why they call it PUBLIC.

Maybe the elites here will want to go private. Unfettered competition ( I did not see any debasing remarks in re-reading) can be healthy. Anyway, I think you get the point.

So serious!

So, the dog " retires ?"

Apr 17, 2007 1:07 am

Who are you wanting an answer from?

bondguy already told you he didn't like it.  Retire the damn dog!!  bowwow arf arf..

Change your signature line to "bondguy wannabe" ...otherwise, find a new hero who doesn't mind the flattery.  How about joedabrkrII. Joe doesn't mind the compliments.  Or Mr. A the Second. Or Billy Hull the Third, Fourth (and drink a fifth).

This seems more and more like the Imus conversation.  Now you're going to have to apologize and get fired from your job, you know.

I for one am also a little tired of the trolls, the spoofing, and the multiple personalities, not to mention the spam and the folks posting on here who aren't even in the business but have to waste our time.

I find it all rather ironic that someone who is admittedly NOT a registered rep and IS a user of multiple screen names is now offering a TROLL advice on how they should best conduct themselves on the registered rep bulletin board.....

Does anyone else see any irony here?

::laden with sarcasm::  No…of course it’s never personal when you make an obvious attempt to ridicule his tagline or hijack it’s persona.  It’s not personal…riiiiiight.

Your tagline about your dog is humorous. I guess anything other than between you and your dog is inappropriate. I don’t mean to insult you or your dog.

Meaningful content is good, so is a little humor. There is plenty of negative stuff here, and Bond Guy's Dog is a good dog, not a mean or bad dog.

This is neither humorous nor good content, so you lose on both counts.  It's just lame....and if you are surprised that he's annoyed, then you're a good candidate for a daily ride on the hockey helmet short bus.

It is funny that you got so mad. Sorry, it really is.

Sorry you have such a farked up sense of humor.  It wasn't funny.

Noboby wants to lose you - so you either have to lighten up, or this dog dies.

I thought my posts were thoughtful.

So you thought.  Apparently none of us agree with you.

Frankly, this dog's ego is very small - only a few posts. So you just say the word, and I'll kill the dog.

Anyone else care to comment about the dog, or maybe a slightly bigger perspective on the issue of appropriateness here?

The above makes it pretty obvious to me(or at least highly likely) that this is just the latest incarnation of planrcoach/silouette, now using a hijacked persona to pontificate about his ideas on what is and is not appropriate forum behavior.  Ironic, really, since you're using some pretty obnoxious behavior to make the point.

Bond Guy, you say the word, and right here and now, I will terminate the dog in a humane fashion. But not without a little growl.

I do think you are one of the smartest people here.

This is the only statement you've made with which I agree.  I'd hate to think that a loser like you would be the last straw and we lose a valuable long-time forum participant.
