AAPL - this has happened in the past. The unveiling of the iPhone was a big let down if you recall. Hasn't stopped people from buying it.
They also failed with the launch of the MacBook Air, but the stock has kept chugging along.
Personally, I think it was too expensive. We've been out of AAPL for some time now (average cost $58, sale price $202 - not a bad return).
If my clients fire me, it won't be for performance.

Most models are based on a $50 billion market cap. Which is what was announced at the MaxIpad show. For the EMH’s out there, $200/share has been priced into the company for quite some time. I feel most people believe that $50 billion is the apex of the company (I don’t, but I think there are better opportunities out there than Apple right now). I think the issue will be if/when iPad creates a new market.
Time may prove me wrong (or right). But there are a TON of Apple haters out there just looking for a reason to bash the company. Think about all of the articles you’ve seen about “iPad disappoints!”. It’s enough to bring any company down - until sales of the iPad are shown in Q3.
While I may not be bullish on the stock. Since my fanboy posting about the iPad, I’ve done some more looking into it. Also, comparatives about what I use my laptop for v. iPhone. I can seriously see getting three of those things at least for my household. It doesn’t make much sense for the business yet, but from a “personal” standpoint, I think they will be useful.
Now, will I get the first models - unlikely. The biggest seller for me was iWork. The portability is amazing. So much easier than carrying the laptop.
Also, since I said I would admit that I was wrong - I WAS WRONG ABOUT S & P 1170 BY mid-JAN.
However, I still think we’ll be flat for a while - great opportunities to make money in client portfolios.

Good points about AAPL, but what I meant was.......How will any stock rise right now if " the best quarter in history" is not enough. 18 months from now I believe we will be at new lows. That is when I will buy. In March I placed a "DOW 10,000 by 1/2010" on my wall in my office. EVERYONE said that would be a miracle. I recently placed a " DOW 6,000 by 1/2011" on my wall in my office. I can't tell you how many of the guys are VERY nervous about that statement. I can't prove everything I say here, but there is a very small group of people that know how good I am at what I do. I called a US dollar bottom ( closely enough ) a Gold short was announced here at 1100 and was added to. Most won't admit it,but those calls are very hard to make and have nothing to do with being a bull or bear. I read people, charts, and more importantly I invest with common sense. There couldn't be more truth than that statement. Any real trader has one or two that he keeps trying to get revenge on and eating sh*t for it. I've had mine that's for sure. I would short AAPL, but the set-up could go either way. I will say this though......Short interest at lowest level since 3/09, 10% fall on good volume. This prediction does make for a scary headline and gets Louise Yamada some buzz.
But, Yamada is a technical analyst and is saying absolutely nothing about the fundamentals here.
You should also note that Jeremy Grantham has said similar things about the S&P hitting 450.

Hi Everyone! I am howboutshoeshine’s co-worker. I am here to verify that he does indeed have a sign in his office. It clearly reads, I"M A LOSER QUINTILE 5. You see a couple of years ago howboutshoeshine was a trainee FA until he failed miserably in 3 weeks. He brought in 1 account and it was his brothers BDA IRA worth $1200.00. He lost it in one week by buying SDS. Now he basically does the binding for the office. Well it’s not really an office, it’s a coat room. He is a very sad individual please be nice to him, he is a little “slow”. Hope I cleared it all up.
