Gotta Vent!
Ok, you guys don’t hear much in the way of negativity coming from me regarding EDJ, but this one drives me nuts.
We are actually having a firm wide contest to name our new bond trading system. They're eventually moving the bond trades from the green screens to a web based platform. But they can't think of a name for it. So, they're giving away $25 gift cards to 5 people a week until the end of January. The final winner gets a $100 gift card (and a tax bill.) Really?!! Don't we have a marketing department or something? Don't we pay those people to come up with those names? Can I throw in my $.02 worth as an LP and tell them to get back to work? I've got a better idea. Let's take suggestions on what we can tell our clients who own Countrywide and GMAC bonds to keep them from suing us. The winner gets a $100 gift card and I keep my U-4 clean. So, what would you guys name our bond trading system? This ought to be good. Trust me, I'm going to submit one of your answers.Okay, I will come out of retirement for a friend.
Well, LPL calls theres the Income Trading Platform...and I know Jones likes a sale gimmicky name...so... "Called bonds are the best bonds" trading system "Whatever happened to the touchdown bond" trading system "40 years is ONLY the maturity date"trading system "Yes, it is insured" trading system "wahoo, 2008 and we have a web based bond trading system" Sorry to let you down...How about “We aren’t really a profit center just a limited inventory, no imagination, backwoods trying to enter this decade bond-mart”? You could acronym the first few words and call it warp-mart…
Ohhh I got it… how about “inventory-less” you could advertise it as expect less pay more at your local inventory-less. Yeah I like that, got a tag line and everything…
I’m confused, I thought you eat green eggs and ham, Sam I Am…
Bond-Mart
Show Me the Green
Corporates & Treasuries & Munis, OH MY!!!
CD's 'n Such
The Big Green Bond Machine
The 5 & 10 Percent Store Touchdowns R Us If one of the names in this thread is a winner, I'm gonna be on the floor laughing...Fixed Income Trading Systems (FITS)
The PC center (the profit center)
Meatloaf (two out of three points on a bond aint bad)
Fixed Underwriting Center Kickbacks - Unit
Drapala wins! Drapala Wins! I was going to make a crack about the 5 and dime store, or the clearance rack, or some other inferior reference. But I just can’t compete with the brilliance and creativity of Drapala!
Drapla gets a gold star for effort no doubt. Just the same, I prefer “Bond-Mart”. Just has a certain ring to it…
how about"the best damn bonds in the world"!
No, that would be misrepresentation…
To add to Drapala’s excellent submission:
Fixed Underwriting Center Kickbacks, Education, Distribution or
Fixed Underwriting Center Kickbacks, Education, Reporting System
They should just call it the Jones Bond Center(JBC). That falls in line with their other program names like JCMS.
hmmm… Jones Awful Credit Kamp-OFFerings?
I like when you sell a 2 point bond and then it shows a 3-4 point difference on the statement for the client. Its easier to pass the market adjustment onto the client I guess.
I think Drapala has already won, but how about:
"Growth Producing Bond System"
GP BS was always my favorite acronym.
As much as Drapala’s suggestion made me laugh, I’m pretty sure they wouldn’t go for it. I’d love to be in that meeting when they get the list of suggested names and some yahoo who reads this forum actually submits it. I actually like the FITS one. It might just be sneaky enough to make it through. I’ll let you know what they decide. I’m sure it won’t be anywhere near as fun as the suggestions you guys have given.
Thanks to all for the encouragment. I hope I win - I love contests. I used to win a lot of them at the car lot before I joined Jones.
bondsrus
Skip, I hope you win a gift card! Maybe you can win another one on Shamrock saturday if you are at your office when the GP geek from St. Louis calls.
Spiff, sorry about that I didn’t mean to call you Skip!
I was wondering how I could've been dragged into this!Spiff, sorry about that I didn’t mean to call you Skip!
...worse yet, he apologized like he was calling someone a bad name...
I counted it as an upgrade.

is the bond aggregate rule still in plce at EDJ?
Yes, why?
Bond, Jones Bond.
Somebody actually submitted this one and won a $25 gift card. We've had two weeks full of winners announced. I'm not one of them. Here are some of the other winners that I thought were funny: Debenture Venture Screen Formerly known as Green WIFI (Web Inventory of Fixed Income) In my humble opinion, the rest stink. Again, we're wasting firm resources to have people outside the marketing department NAME A COMPUTER SCREEN!! Where's that suggbox form...Fixed Income Trading Systems (FITS)
FITS - how appropriate
General Placement - Corporate Recording Administrative Program
Somebody actually submitted this one and won a $25 gift card.
Are you serious?!! Thanks, man...after today I needed that...
Fixed Income Trading Systems (FITS)

Do you really get charged to call your home office for help!!!
