Its raining in my town today, I wonder if the Jones systems have that stupid circle with a picture of a sattelite and a cross running through it. $1300 hundred a month for that state of the art technlogy.

Its should be It's (It is). Satellite is the correct spelling. It really comes down to the IR, doesn't it?

Does Jones revenue share with the weather channel? they must because its the only company that has to look at the weather forecast to see if they can put in an order.

The compliance dept went so far as to tell as what analogies are appropriate when discussing rev sharing.

The grocery store analogy, i.e. buying shelf space (or mindshare) they felt was not accurate because " the grocer doesn't have a duty to make a suitable recommendation for their customers. They merely stock the shelves and allow the shopper to make their own decisions as to what to buy. We have a duty of care to our customers and must have reasonable grounds for believing that any recommendations we make are suitable for the individual customer."

The grocery store analogy is probably the most appropriate. Levels of proifit as a result of the sheer number of IR's. 88M in other revenue. Anyone care to guess where it came from.

Seriously?  Read the other posts on this (there are many), Butkus.  No one cares.  I frankly enjoy the Jones guys that sit back, put their head down, do their business and get on with life and not care who thinks what (like noggin and a few others on here).  All the rest of you can go back to your kool-aid swilling circle **** and sing your praises to the wonderful GPs for building such a great company and THE BEST SALES FORCE IN THE GALAXY!!!

I think it's great to be proud of who you work for.  It really is.  At the end of the day, it's a very isolated survey and not very subjective.  Of course most people will rate their firm as very strong if they're working for them.  If not, they'd be across the street. 

Look at some of the actual industry publications and who ranks where.  That is much more insightful than this JD Powers and local Dept of Commerce stuff.

All kidding aside, that does argue that all of us have gotten too used to internet technology.  At least if you have a client/prospect list on your local computer (or on paper, even better!), you can make some calls and set appointments. 

As superior as the technology is at some of the Indy firms, from time to time the T2 or cable lines do go down and we're in the same boat.

Starka- appreciate the kind comment but when cable lines go down in a town or city it does'nt shut down the whole operation. When Captain Kirk unloaded the waste gate over the Jones satellite it shut down the entire "cult". A lesson they should learn is not to put all of your eggheads on one satellite....idiots.
