#1 again

May 11, 2006 4:36 pm

Edward Jones was recently named the #1 large company to work for in both Ohio and Oklahoma.

May 11, 2006 4:38 pm

named by who?

Yeah its great to work for as long as you are handed a book that somebody else busted their a#s for. Better yet, if your a GP.....complete BS!

May 11, 2006 4:42 pm

EXACTLY!

To, "WORK FOR."  Try working for yourself and you won't ever have to worry about who tops which list!

May 11, 2006 4:50 pm

Its raining in my town today, I wonder if the Jones systems have that stupid circle with a picture of a sattelite and a cross running through it. $1300 hundred a month for that state of the art technlogy.

Doesn't say much about Ohio or OK, does it. BTW, do the people who live there know they have a choice?

"Its raining in my town today, I wonder if the Jones systems have that stupid circle with a picture of a sattelite and a cross running through it. $1300 hundred a month for that state of the art technlogy."

Its should be It's (It is). Satellite is the correct spelling. It really comes down to the IR, doesn't it?

May 11, 2006 4:56 pm

Butkus…  We don’t call them “IR’s” in the real world.

May 11, 2006 4:56 pm

All those local Ohio chamber memberships are really paying off!

Does Jones revenue share with the weather channel? they must because its the only company that has to look at the weather forecast to see if they can put in an order.

May 11, 2006 5:13 pm

Sorry, Registered Representative. I actually thought of this when posting, but didn’t think anyone would bother with such a triviality.

May 11, 2006 5:17 pm

ButtKiss, you just keep setting yourself up fo abuse.  We are surprised that you bothered with such trivial “awards”.

May 11, 2006 5:25 pm

The compliance dept went so far as to tell as what analogies are appropriate when discussing rev sharing.

The grocery store analogy, i.e. buying shelf space (or mindshare) they felt was not accurate because " the grocer doesn't have a duty to make a suitable recommendation for their customers. They merely stock the shelves and allow the shopper to make their own decisions as to what to buy. We have a duty of care to our customers and must have reasonable grounds for believing that any recommendations we make are suitable for the individual customer."

The grocery store analogy is probably the most appropriate. Levels of proifit as a result of the sheer number of IR's. 88M in other revenue. Anyone care to guess where it came from.

The double speak is incredible. This is just one example.

May 11, 2006 6:02 pm

Well as long as the COC says so it must be great to work there.

May 11, 2006 6:13 pm

Seriously?  Read the other posts on this (there are many), Butkus.  No one cares.  I frankly enjoy the Jones guys that sit back, put their head down, do their business and get on with life and not care who thinks what (like noggin and a few others on here).  All the rest of you can go back to your kool-aid swilling circle **** and sing your praises to the wonderful GPs for building such a great company and THE BEST SALES FORCE IN THE GALAXY!!!

May 11, 2006 6:14 pm

I think it's great to be proud of who you work for.  It really is.  At the end of the day, it's a very isolated survey and not very subjective.  Of course most people will rate their firm as very strong if they're working for them.  If not, they'd be across the street.

Look at some of the actual industry publications and who ranks where.  That is much more insightful than this JD Powers and local Dept of Commerce stuff.

successroom1 - It’s more than just bad weather in your town, what about when the weather was bad in St Louis? One minute you’d be working & then the next you are staring at the black & green brick wall, watching the counter at the bottom of the screen.

May 11, 2006 8:15 pm

Devoted…were you there when the satellite burnt up?

May 11, 2006 8:16 pm

Wasn’t that Haley’s comet that hit the satellite?

May 11, 2006 8:22 pm

Hey I just did a poll with in my office and guess what?

WE ALL THINK WE ARE THE BEST PLACE TO WORK - any suggestions on who I should call to get the results printed?

May 11, 2006 8:26 pm

I remember that week of no connection....my idiot regional leader called everyone of the employees and told them to go knock on doors.

who needs the US mail system go back to the Pony Express

May 11, 2006 8:47 pm

 cs.  Too funny!

May 11, 2006 9:12 pm

successroom1...yepper we were there. Funny thing was, after our deal was re-pointed we still had to have the guy come out 2 or 3 more times, because the coordinates we had were"just not quite right."

At least we got to watch 2 days of Jerry Springer!

May 11, 2006 11:25 pm

what a hack firm…

May 11, 2006 11:59 pm

All kidding aside, that does argue that all of us have gotten too used to internet technology.  At least if you have a client/prospect list on your local computer (or on paper, even better!), you can make some calls and set appointments.

As superior as the technology is at some of the Indy firms, from time to time the T2 or cable lines do go down and we're in the same boat.

Starka- appreciate the kind comment but when cable lines go down in a town or city it does'nt shut down the whole operation. When Captain Kirk unloaded the waste gate over the Jones satellite it shut down the entire "cult". A lesson they should learn is not to put all of your eggheads on one satellite....idiots.

$1300 per month for state of the art technology
