Purchasing Leads?

Does anyone do this? Subscribe to places like InfoUSA.com / etc. to bulk up on phone numbers to call when they get into work in the morning? What about corporate directories / etc.? Do most people actually go out and buy the phone numbers they use to cold call? Or is it more common for FA's to reserach individuals and come up with a list of leads on their own? Maybe a combination of both things?
