Passed the 7

Jun 1, 2009 7:44 pm

Just passed my 7 with an 87%.

EDJ does a phenomenal job preparing you for the test.

On to my 66…

Bah.  You studied 17% too hard    Congrats.  Don't pay any mind to Ron.  Now on to the really tough stuff....

So, when you passed the 7 three years ago, you weren't the least bit excited?   C'mon Ron, don't be such a douche about it.  We all know it gets progressively tougher from here, why burst her bubble so soon?

Any success in this business obviously involves passing the 7. Let be real, its not the CFA test or even the CFP test. Maybe I was a bit harsh, but if passing the test is a concern you have problems.

This board is filled with bitter - aholes. They talk shyt here because their clients make them eat it so often.  Of course there are some nuggets of good information within the crap they spew which is why I personally tolerate it.

Passing the 7 when you are just starting out is a HUGE deal.  It does not mean crap 30 seconds after you knock on your first door.  However, celebrate tonight!

Volt…Genious… MCAT doesn’t mean sh*t once you start Med School, but i’m pretty damn sure i’d never go to a doctor who didn’t pass it. Why? Cause they wouldn’t be a doctor. People on this site. I swear to god.

Genious ? Really ? Try Genius. Thanks for proving my point. The 7 isn't med school, it isn't rocket science, it isn't the Bar.
Wow a type-o…You get an -A in Retard school…

I wonder if you would continue to use this word if your own child was mentally handicapped.

Why don't you post some positive stuff Ron and quit telling everyone else that who they are and what they do is worthless. It doesn't make you a better advisor or a better person. It just makes you some Asshole who sits at their computer and stalks threads, waiting for another type-o so you can tell them how they can't spell, or someone who passed their 7 so you can tell them that its a worthless accomplishment or a newbie kickin ass so you can laugh with your cheeto fingers and call them a liar, or a failure. Which isn't too shy of some of those guys on that TV show i like to call, "To Catch a Predator". You constantly preach about people wanting self-fulfillment but I don't think any post on this site is more self righteous than your bitter, sh*tty posts. I could be wrong, but i'm pretty sure you took the damn test too, and you probably squealed like a bitch when you passed. To someone who is making a life-changing career move, hoping it will feed their kids its a big f***ing deal, so let someone else have a little sense of accomplishment and shut your god damn mouth.
I'm sure your wife would love to hear you use this phrase.  I cuss like a sailor also, but man, clean it up a little.  It makes you sound ignorant.

End Post....
Wind- I know for you passing the 7 was an absolute miracle, but I think for most of us it was just something we needed to do, we took the test and moved to the next step.

I hope you don't reproduce, but if you do I am sure you will be one of the clowns at the Jr. High Graduation yelling and screaming that your child graduated while 99% of the parents sit quietly knowing that this is an irrelevant step forward.

Jun 2, 2009 2:20 pm

Ron it isn’t often that I agree with Wind but I do here.  Did you tell no one when you passed the 7?  I’ll bet that you did.

CONGRATS DIANNA!!!   It is a big step!  It is only the first step!  Keep moving forward.

I really can't believe that in this ball busting industry, where there is so much to learn and so much effort needed to even have a chance at succeeding that you guys view the 7 as an accomplishment.

Jun 2, 2009 2:45 pm

.

Jun 2, 2009 2:52 pm

Like most, after being out a little bit you look back and don't think it's much of an accomplishment. It's sort of like $100,000 sounded like a lot of money when you started, but is relatively meaningless compared to the size of a book you can live on.

With that said, isn't the pass rate on the 7 less than 50%?
Jun 2, 2009 2:56 pm

I have no idea what the pass rate is. I work with some bankers who passed the test, but cannot explain to me what a mutual fund is. This is why it doesn’t impress me.

Jun 2, 2009 3:10 pm

Like I said, if you don’t pass it you don’t become a licensed advisor.  You have no ability to make the type of money you do, doing what you do, without it.  THAT is why it is an accomplishment.  It isn’t that it is hard, it is that it is the first step in this career.

Jun 2, 2009 3:16 pm

For what it’s worth for those inquisitive minds, the estimated pass rate seems to be between 60-70%.

Jun 2, 2009 3:17 pm

when I took it the national pass rate was 63%.

woohoo, I'm in the top 37 percentile!
Jun 2, 2009 3:31 pm

Well as of February this girl already had her 6, 63 and life/health licenses and was the top producer in her region, so its not like this girl is straight out of the starting gate.

And most advisors here still don’t understand how a marginal tax works either.

Jun 3, 2009 12:00 am

Look, the Series 7 is an IQ test.

Can you memorize a bunch of stuff that has no meaning in real life and pass a 6-hour exam so you can forget everything you learned because it doesn't matter?   Good job for passing it!  Now forget everything you learned and go sell something!
Jun 3, 2009 12:11 am

Imagine … this whole thread started with Ron being a prick to someone on a “rookie” thread talking about passing the 7.  What a bunch of assholes. Since you guys are so advanced why do you troll around here pikers?

Jun 3, 2009 12:29 am

Voltmoie, just because your boyfriend held a party for you when you passed the 7 and now someone has disagreed with its value as an accomplishment ,doesn’t make it less of one in your mind. I understand for you and wind it is the single greatest accomplishment in your life to this point and that is great. Rock on ! You are awesome ! You wouldn’t be so defensive about my simple comment “who cares” if you weren’t overrating its difficulty.

Jun 3, 2009 12:52 am

Is a guy whose already failed at one company seriously talking trash? That’s funny right there.

Whose defensive? Just think you were a prick, the shoe fits… wear it princess.

Jun 3, 2009 1:03 am

At what company did I fail at ? If you want I will give you the exact numbers of what I did at Jones month by month. I will also give you my real name, you can call the home office and see if I left in good standing and if I am welcomed back. PM me if you want this info. Just because someone leaves Jones doesn’t mean they failed you kool aid drinking stroke.

Jun 3, 2009 1:04 am

Hell, if you want I will UPS you my first year awards, you sure as hell won’t win any.

Jun 3, 2009 1:07 am

PM me your contact information and I’ll give you a call.  You’re still a prick - you know that.

Jun 3, 2009 1:10 am

Actually, outside of Windy and possibly yourself, Jones doesn’t hire many total strokes. All in all they hire solid people. I am not giving you my phone number, if I do you will call me every month for 5 years trying to sell me a 30 yr Corporate Bond. The best part is, now that I have left Jones, I DO HAVE THE MONEY AVAILABLE.

Everytime you speak you destroy your own argument. Working less would mean less money.

I agree with Ron. Series 7 is a pathetic attempt to weed out idiots. The exam is weak. You don’t learn anything. It’s like seeing how many pushups and situps you can do and think that that will physically prepare you for combat.

Think about how many morons you have met in this industry (me included… see name Moraen). They all passed the 7.

And I promise you were excited when you passed it.  Called your family, had a beer, your field trainer … whatever.  Hopefully none you told said “no one cares”    Sorry you’ve become so jaded but it’s not fair to take it out on a chick that just passed the 7.  Shows NO class.

It may be an accomplishment to you, but to me it was a roadblock that needed to be removed. Try taking level I of the CFA, fail it. Then pass it. THAT is an accomplishment.

I actually did celebrate when I finished Eval/Grad as gay as that is.

Volt - I’m glad you are proud. But don’t make it out to be something it’s not.

And I’m glad Dianna passed. She seems like a good egg. But don’t for one minute pretend like it means anything.

Jun 3, 2009 1:59 am

It meant everything for her the day she took and passed it.  It means nothing the next day.  No reason for Ron to be an ahole about it.

I was excited the day I passed it - can’t even remember my score now.  Didn’t celebrate Eval/Grad though but did have a good time.  Mostly the beer at night.

There may be some who care that you in fact passed this test and I will let them shower you with praise now.......

Ron, the world accepts your apology. Way to man up. Still waiting for my PM.

Jun 3, 2009 2:19 am

Jun 4, 2009 3:32 am

Congrats Dianna, you studied too hard. It really makes no difference what you scored on your S7 exam. You can’t publish your score to resumes or your credentials. It’s essentially why the CFA program doesn’t tell candidates what score they actually got - just pass or fail.

All kidding aside, breathe a sigh of relief and go study hard for the 66 (don’t take it for granted).
