Experienced asset manager looking to make switch over to wealth management

Looking for some advice on how best to make the move into wealth management.  I have a CFA and CPA and have been a pm for over 15 years, most recently running a l/s hedge fund.  Want to get away from the daily market gyrations and focus more on the long-term picture and helping individuals meet their financial goals.  I'm good at asset managing, not so good at asset gathering.  Are there firms out there that are looking for seasoned advisors without an existing client base?  Or is asset gathering the foremost requirement for new hires?  Would a CFP add anything to my credentials?  Any advice would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks.
