I have not taken a drug test yet, and the background check couldn’t have been a problem, for I disclosed everything in full since the initial application.  But I’ll agree that they saw something they didn’t like, otherwise they would’ve hired me.  Still, I know I can succeed in this position, and I’m not going to stop until they give it to me.

If it was after the FTF interview, and it wasn’t conducted by the RL, you MAY get somewhere by going straight to him if you REALLY think you have the IT factor.  Thats if he will even give you the time of day.  That being said, I’d say you got a little ahead of yourself as far as name selection.

If you can’t get through the Jones interview process, give it up. This isn’t exactly the top of the food chain. I hear that Nordstrom pays it’s shoe salesmen pretty well.

This is exactly why you weren’t hired. When you go into the RL office for the attempt at the override make sure your pants are around your ankles and back your way in. If you want to assure yourself a job tattoo an ICA mountain chart on your lower back.

Tell us everything you disclosed.  For instance, if you were convicted of bank robbery, and disclosed it, you wouldn’t get the job.

The RL can give an override but he only has a limited number of bullets. Why would he want to spend it on you?

seriously though, if you can fog a fuckin’ mirror, you should be able to get hired at Jones.  Have you ever sold vacuum cleaners door-to-door?  I hear thats a prerequisite for EJ.  

Reality is that the hiring process is not easy at jones.  I can see why they let anyone in.  Just look at all the present and past Jonsers on this board.
What you do not understand is that just because you disclose something and they let you interview you still have to get by compliance.  And it does not matter if the RL is a GP.  Obama himself could not change the mind of a Compliance Officer.

I am with the group that says you should kill yourself if you don’t get hired at Jones.

i heard toyota might be hiring some new salesman soon?  if you can prove that you can sell some camry’s after everything thats happened, jones might hire you then if you show them that on your resume and offer up some packets of kool-aid 

You probably didn’t need a drug test because you wore a Grateful Dead T-shirt and wreaked of Patuli Oil during your interview.

I also got denied employment at Jones during the interview process. My RL gave me the silver bullet and I got through. I thought I interviewed well and still don’t know why I got denied. Now I’m in my 16 month selling and am “drowning in kool aid”. Go ahead and give it your best shot with the RL. At least then you won’t wonder what would have happened if you tried…

Well everyone, turns out the RL had already used all his bullets.  No such luck.
Looks like I’ll have to reapply again at a later date when I have more experience.

I will tell you what nobody else on here will.  Save yourself while you still can and avoid the EJs and wirehouses.  If you seriously want to have a career as an advisor consider applying at an RIA.  At first the pay will be less, a lot less, and you'll do a lot more s*** work in the beginning, in the long run though you'll make more money, probably end up with equity ownership in the firm and your book, and not have to deal with the BS that a registered rep does.

Man, these guys are leaving you some pretty tough comments.  When I started in this business 20 years ago, I was told no after about 9 rounds of interviews at Lehman Brothers.  The morning after I was told no, I waited in the elevator bank for the manager, who I knew was always the 1st one into the office in the morning.  I had a coffee and a bagel for him.  He showed up at about 7am and by 730, I was hired.  Not sure if that still works these days but can't hurt to try.
