Bilingual Advisors?
Hey guys and gals,
I'm getting ready to start interviewing for financial advisor training programs in the coming months, and I was wondering if it helps to be bilingual, and if so how much?
The short of it is that I've studied German in the past and let's just say I can get around if I needed to, but I've got a lot more to learn to be fluent. Is there any place for a language like German in the world of a traditional FA here in the US?
I'm really considering just knocking out another thousand words if it could be useful as a FA, but I can't find a whole lot of information regarding linguistics and financial advisors online which leads me to believe it may not be all that important.
What have you all learned about this in your experience?

I think for certain locations, it would help to be biligual but not bilingual with German.
It definitely can’t hurt. The business is all about clients and getting more of them and making them feel at ease. You never know if you’ll run into a wealthy German retiree who’s deciding between firms and ultimately chose you because you spoke to him in German, or maybe there’s an existing German client you can help service.
