SAY HEY HEY, I AM FREE!!!!

My screen name says it all!

Peace, Love, and Transfering those accounts!!!!

Mar 6, 2007 4:32 am

I take it you you are now independent?

Mar 6, 2007 4:33 am

Elmo’s World?

Mar 6, 2007 2:31 pm

How long were you with “the Cult” and where did you go?

Mar 6, 2007 4:14 pm

Good for you.  Hope your transition goes well.

Mar 6, 2007 4:15 pm

oh, Can you tell us why they win those Customer Satisfaction and Branding surveys?  I just can't figure that out because all of the brokers hate them so much.

How do they pull off the favorable results.

Mar 6, 2007 4:48 pm
Elmo's World?
I thought the same thing.

Mar 7, 2007 1:03 pm

Sorry I have not posted back, I have been to busy Transfering clients.

I am now Indy and was with the "cult" for 6 years.

As far as the satisfaction surveys, well when the jones propaganda team (Home Office GP's/underlings, and regional leaders) has e-mail/phone call session to everyone to make sure we respond to those surveys so we "can be the best company out there", They are bound to get all the Koolaid conosuers to take part.

As for the Elmo thing, well my wife always told me I could not sing and it must show through even when I type it out.  Hopefully it was less painful on your ears though.

Mar 7, 2007 5:42 pm

Don't apologize....get off these boards and fill out those ACAT forms!!!

(then come back in a month or two when the dust has settled and let us know how everything went...)

Congratulations on your independence...it's kind of like the army...the toughest job you'll ever love...

...and BTW, the Elmo thing took me a few minutes to grasp, but when I did, it brought back memories of singing that $^%#!%$^&#@ song with my daughter when she was little...

Mar 9, 2007 5:51 pm

Congrats,

I'm almost there...Can't wait!!!

Congratulations on the move, good luck.
did they fire you or put you on goals???
Six years.. My money says, "He saw the light".

Mar 21, 2007 3:30 pm

jusboughtacaddy,

Your posts say a lot about you and a lot about the Jones cult, I mean culture.  They teach you at Jones that noone in their right mind would ever want to leave Jones, so if someone leaves they were probably fired or put on goals or decided that they just couldn't survive in the industry.  I think you need to look at how many folks here were successful at Jones, have left Jones, and are even more successful now.  Get over the fact that not everyone likes Jones, nor do they want to spend their entire career at Jones just because they started there.  Maybe one day soon, you'll see the light.

Mar 21, 2007 5:51 pm

freefromjones, did the fire you or put you on goals?  were you  ever profitable?

Mar 21, 2007 6:36 pm

caddy paddy, neither…just got tired of seeing folks that were the golden boys/girls in the region take 7-10 years to net 100k.  I’ve been gone 6 months aand have netted 100k.  Buddy of mine won a trip for doing the same production at Jones (net 40k)  I guess that trip cost him 60K.  I hope he enjoys Hawaii a whole lot.

Mar 21, 2007 6:38 pm

caddy,

I highly doubt that a real partner at Jones would be posting on this forum at work.  I know how important it is that you really work during market hours and how the GPs tell you if you want to make more money just increase your production.  You'd better stop posting and start selling some more 40 year, 3 net bonds.  I wouldn't want you to get in trouble for not meeting your quota.

Mar 21, 2007 8:29 pm

took me 2 years to get to 100k net.  maid partner in 3 years.  was on my lunch break.  i look around my region, and the ones that left were grossing 10k and stuck in seg 3.  did you even make it to seg 3?  probably not.  maybe you got fired for sleeping with your boa???

I can, however, believe that a real partner at Jones has the abysmal spelling and grammar skills evidenced by caddy.

Mar 21, 2007 8:47 pm

looney, you probably didnt make it out of seg 2…

Mar 21, 2007 9:23 pm

I'm really hoping that caddy isn't a Jones broker at all, just someone yanking your chain.  If he is, he is the epitome of the most self righteous partners at Jones.  If you guys ever hear me talking like this guy, PM me and tell me to shut up.  I don't mind healthy debate, but he's really out there.

Mar 21, 2007 9:34 pm

spiff, let me guess, you were the guy that got loaded the first night in stl at kyc and got kicked out?

Mar 21, 2007 11:12 pm

The bottom line is this.

The only people who stay at jones are the ones that can't do simple math.

Example: A TEN NET MONTH at Jones= $25000 gross assuming a 40% payout. (.... ya ya I know spaceman, you have to deduct toilet paper and just about all the other office supply expenses from that 40%, but you must remember, I am trying to keep the math simple so I don't lose ol' caddy shack)

A $25000 gross month now after ALL expenses... I hope you are sitting down for this Caddy..... no, Its OK you can have a seat..... No really, I don't want you to hurt yourself..... Thank you...

OK here we go

$25,000 gross after ALL EXPENSES = $18,000

... Caddy!... Caddy!..... Sorry fellas, I must of lost him when I started doing the math.

... Well I guess with a extra $8000 in the bank I will just have to settle for one SUPERTRIP per MONTH.... what a joke

BTW for those who care, two weeks out and 40% of my office is either in or in transit to me already.

Mar 22, 2007 12:00 am

for 18k i could buy some sweet rims.

Mar 22, 2007 12:04 am
you are the one with 1729 frickin posts.  im playing the plantation course at sea island tomorrow.... must be doing something right.
I average 2-3 posts per day...thus far you average 19 per day, Kaptain Kool-Aid.  I'm spending the week business/pleasure in Sarasota, Fla and getting a tax deduction for it, so you've got nothing on me with your day on the golf course.  When you retire, how much you think EDJ will pay you for your book, big boy?  In between, I'll be working half as hard as you to make the same money.

I'm not impressed with your caddy either...I know Mary Kay reps who've been given caddies too...did Jones give you a green one?

Don't get me started...your attitude brings out the worst in me.

Mar 22, 2007 6:05 am

doneWJones,

I am going to assume a 25k gross month is huge for you, otherwise you would have used a much large number.  Based on your pay assumption of only having 7k out of your 25k taken out for expenses, I must also assume you have no assistant and either are working out of your home or have extremely inexpensive office space (rural/small town/midwest).  Because you made no mention of LP, Profit Sharing, or Bonuses, I must assume your average month's gross is very low. Tell me where I am wrong?

Mar 22, 2007 12:48 pm

caddy’s such an idiot, probably doesn’t even work fro Jones because he’s attacking Spiff, who logically and steadily supports the firm he works for, Edward Jones!! Did you get that caddy??  Maybe caddy is Jimmy Weedle in disguise and this is his way of having a laugh at the office.

Mar 22, 2007 1:16 pm

So Rank…What would you have churn to meet 18k net…My expenses, with a full time assistant, is running 3500 per.  Much nicer digs than what I left…(client comments).  What this is showing…as we move further down the road and build our businesses to 50,75, 100 million…Our number will move up substantially.  So as I move through the years, I will always make more than EDJ, no question. You can’t compete with the payout and platform, YOU CAN"T.  I bet your just a seg 3 who is lying about bringing in 12 million. Liar.

Mar 22, 2007 1:45 pm

Rank,

I used a nice SIMPLE number to do SIMPLE MATH, which you obviously do not know how to do.

Profit sharing, LP, Bonuses, etc., is just Jones' way of paying you with YOUR OWN MONEY!..... It is kind of like someone stealing $96,000 from you and then expecting a big thank you when they return $20,000 to you.

Just because you can't do SIMPLE MATH that is not my problem... IT'S YOURS!

Rank, here is one more piece of advice in case you have not figured out the math yet.... Put down the cup of koolaid and get yourself a Financial Advisor to walk you through it.

Hi!

My name is Whomit Mayconcern, I'm in the publishing business and we're launching a new niche magazine! The working title is Ed Jones/Ded Jones.

It's an exciting new format wherein the magazine is written from both directions, on one cover is ED Jones and articles inside from that cover are pro the ED Jones culture.

The other cover is DEd Jones and articles from that cover are all about how life after Jones is going.

In test markets, we've noticed that the Current Jones brokers tend to hold the magazine and read  the DEd Jones side first! Ex Jonsers contrapositively (and counterintuitivly) open the Ed Jones pages first.

Also interesting to us is the names of the advertisers for both directions. Kool Aide brand is a major underwriter of both sides. other sponsors include antacid giant Rolaids, Anger Management firms want to advertise in the middle section where the opinion/letters section of the two sides flow into each other , the distributor of Thom Mc Cann shoes and Birkenstock foot wear is big (but they can't seem to understand which section to go into due to the flip flop of the target markets) Xanax, big advertiser, and surprisingly, Stanley tools, apparently they have a special ruler for guys in adolescent fights (?).

If you'd like a subscription, just let us know. If we can get enough subscribers, the non jones posters to the RR forums will help us underwrite a website where the subscribers can go to discuss the articles! (We've been in contact with Ampex about their mega terrabyte database systems that our server said will be a prerequisite so we don't crash their system.)
spiff, let me guess, you were the guy that got loaded the first night in stl at kyc and got kicked out?
No moron, I was the one leading the class.  I'll bet you were the guy sitting in the back of the room not paying attention, then calling me the next week crying because someone slammed the door in your face.  Your RL probably called me halfway through Market Research wanting to know if he had the ability to fire your sorry butt. I bailed out so many simpleton's like you it makes me puke.  Makes me wonder how big my bonus checks would be these days if Jones had hired the other 85% of the people they turned down.  Like I told you before, if you're going to represent Jones on this board, check your attitude at the door.  Better yet, don't represent us at all.  Pretend you work for Amex.  We get enough grief around here without your stereotypical butt adding fuel to the fire.

Whew, I feel better now.

Mar 22, 2007 8:25 pm

Way to go Spiff, I think he deserved that, and I have gained a whole new respect for you as an Edward D Jonser.  You represent yourself well and believe that you would represent any firm youworked for in the same manner.

Mar 22, 2007 10:15 pm

Spiff,

You've got my vote.  Maybe you should consider Indy and discontinue your financial support for morons like Caddy...there is NO downside to leaving Jones.

I actually had an offer from Morgan Stanley a few months ago.  I turned them down.  Mostly because I would have been some other big producer's lapdog (one of four) and I didn't like that idea.  If I ever do leave Jones it will be to start my own firm.  I have friends at LPL, Wachovia, and Raymond James who used to be with Jones.  I think a firm that has an CFP, CPA, and JP would be a great shop to run.  Spaceman Spiff Wealth Advisors.  Out of this world service or your money back.

Sorry, it's been a really long day.  One more appointment tonight and I can go home.

Mar 22, 2007 11:13 pm

Spiff,

I like it.  I wouldn't suggest going from one employer to another...Indy is the way to go.

Mar 23, 2007 4:57 am

Agreed…Spiff represents what is good at Jones…and if he leaves, it should only be to pilot his own ship…
