Have you bought a book recently?

May 29, 2007 4:17 pm

If so, I would appreciate your feedback.  What if anything would you have done differently?

Make it a good day.

Nobody?  Beuller?

May 30, 2007 3:14 pm

I bought a 12mil book, mostly transaction based with about $20k in trails for $55k upfront and it’s worked out OK so far.  I’ve kept most of the clients and it should pay for itself in less than a year.

May 30, 2007 6:07 pm

I put the new Harry Potter book on order so it will ship when it comes out.  That may not be the kind of book you are asking about though.

May 30, 2007 6:37 pm

I was at Borders last night with the kids.  I bought a book for each of them.  Total cost was less than 12 bucks.

55K on a 12Mil book is Steep. VERY steep. Figure the asset velocity is about

.75 to .9, so maybe 100K in production? 15% of the gross production is fair.

Unless he can slam at least $3mm into an annuity real quick.

Have a couple of wholesalers sending me books right now.  One on 401ks and the other on sales.  The latter is on CD, so I can listen to it in the car.

May 31, 2007 1:48 am

Interesting.  I’m hearing 100% of gross for commission-based and 150% for fee-based.  Someone else referenced a much lower number and I’m trying to figure out what the conflict is.  Is this a wirehouse vs. independent book difference?  I’ve asked before and no one seems to have the answer.

I'll trade $100k for $55k every day of the week...am I missing something.  Even if I just get my money back in 1 year...that's very cheap and a great return on my investment moving forward.

Hey moron, you’re the third person to do a variation on that joke in this

thread. It was funny the first time.

Perhaps for a more established book and with a proper transition. Someone

with a 12Mil book isn’t very good and clearly doesn’t have a good client

base. I would not expect a very easy transition.

May 31, 2007 2:30 am

In general I would agree but in this case the guy worked with me in my office and we meet with each of the clients together and I retained about 95% of the assets after 6 months so I think it will work out.  I don’t work that hard and I’ve gotten back most of my investment already so I really don’t feel like I can lose at this point.

Didn't you just give yourself enough love when you cleared the snorkel a few minutes ago?

Somehow I knew you would go there.

Stop being such a cyber bully or I'll report you to the media, and then launch a tirade of long incoherent posts with extraneous graphics.  I'm warning you, I'll really do it!!

I'll do better next time.  Also, how about using proper punctuation when you call me a moron?

No you won't.  You're not capable of doing better, your IQ won't allow it.  Proper punctuation won't make it any more or less true.  YoU aRe A M-O-R-O-N.  See, any way I say it, it's still true.

Right on! The vote of confidence is in and reggin has absolutely no confidence in you and neither do I. I've come to the conclusion that only forum groupies know all of your strengths and weaknesses and are the all-knowing-Bondo you really need to follow reggin's advice and hang it up right now.  Bondo, you have a total of 17 posts-quite enough for everyone here to know you are a moron just as reggin says-no need to say more-Reggin is very intuitive as well as other forum groupies.

I've decided to just hang it up completely and never wear it again! Just choose a less painful way to go.  Maybe reggin can offer some suggestions on how to end all of your worries once and for all .

Well Nancy, you know what they say about "if you can't stand the heat...."  This is a tough business.

By the way-you've made it pretty clear to me that you're the latest incarnation of our favorite troll parachute/goforbroke/freedomadvocate.  Anyone else see the obvious similarities?

You're so transparent and obvious it's almost funny.....almost.

nope am a realtor in NM.  You write just like Bobby Hull-are you him? A sentence is a sentence unless you're in jail.  It seems that DustBunny and ym are the only females allowed on the site-very well then. I am still waiting for Sampson to email me some information unless you are Sampson, too?  Talk about an Identity Crisis! Geeze!

You seemed to have written the book on how to have a pleasant personality?

Jun 1, 2007 3:37 pm

Joe, come on.  Ignore and don't respond.

Back to the topic.

I too would have said that I was not interested in any book except for a fee based one.  BUT, I have inherited some non fee accounts, and you can make some money there.  A little monthly boost when you need it.

But cold calling and even seminars??? a very tough road.

If I stick around here, I'll be buying the farm due toall of the toxity and vexactions to my spirit.

I may login and read if I'm amused.  I'm currently 'slightly' amused at oldproducer and exproptrader.  Where's that smart Jack Handy feller? oh that's right, someone posted his name here! There was a proir 'lance' poster who was very funnie!  Funny: the strange facination with my ass.  Smart but weird people here!  This site is really good for a good laugh.  Oh my goodness!

I might pm if I'm amused enuf ... but don't hold ur breath or bet the farm!

Way too much toxity and nastiness for me to continue posting but I'll read&lurk sometimes....so no need to cry or get your rep bloomers all bunched up.

BTW: caught George Carlin's latest bit on HBO LATE last night: what a venomous guy he is but agree that the govt doesn't give a sh*t about us.  He thinks there should be a new reality show for suicide: why did that remind me of the evil cyber bullies here!

The suicide encourager on this site might be interested in the job!

There's even a new R&B song dedicated to the suicide encourager, too!
