CFP Kaplan Tax
Going thru the modules- read the book take the test, very interesting. Then…the TAX module. Just missed passing it today- ouch. It is so hard to be interested in much of it; unlike the other modules, so much of it is NOT going be able to be used by me. MACRS tables? Who cares? Crap- this makes the CFP studying a bit tougher than I thought. Anyone else feel the same? Experience? Feedback?
I think Kaplan’s material was horribly written.
yes, horribly written like it was done quickly without much editing
I had the same attitude when I first started the CFP program. I thought I could get by only knowing the basics on Taxes on Estates and make up for it with my strengths Retirement Planning and Investments. I soon found out you need to have a strong understanding of every subject or you probably will not pass. I eventually sucked it up and learned what I needed on Taxes and Estates. The crazy thing is I come across situations with clients where my understanding on those subject helped close business so I am glad I learned more. I used the college for financial planning books, Keir review books and Kaplan MP3 audio tapes while I commuted to work, LA traffic is a b*tch. I thought the Keir had the best material.
You will use tax knowlege in your practice. I have used almost every thing I studying CFP helping clients.
