Part 7: Expected Change in Usage of ETFs

Section 4: Best Practices of Top Advisors

When we compare and contrast the responses to our survey question on expected change in use of ETFs over the next three years we generally observe fairly consistent results across all three categories of firms. Given that the largest firms predominantly use ETFs for core positions it would follow that the majority of them, in this case 51%, plan to keep their usage about the same going forward. And, while both the large and other firms indicated a higher percentage sticking to the status quo than planning to increase the use of ETFs, it was the opposite for the growing firms. Of the growing firm respondents, only 44% indicated that their usage would remain the same over the next three years while 52% indicated that ETF usage would increase.
