Andrew Whitehair

Director of Tax, Cohen & Company

Andrew Whitehair, CPA/PFS, AEP is director of tax at Cohen & Company. Andy approaches his clients’ situations holistically, reaching across several disciplines to deliver value. He works not only with other professionals throughout the firm, but integrates with his clients’ outside advisors to ensure client needs are being met.

Andy’s core expertise is working with banks and trust companies, business owners, corporate executives and high-net-worth families primarily in the areas of income, trust, and estate tax compliance and consulting. Andy has worked with numerous high-net-worth families and large corporate trustees to solve some of their most complex trust and estate tax issues, coordinating multiple advisors and issues. For example, when helping a client implement a wealth- transfer strategy capable of generating significant tax savings, Andy took into consideration all potential aspects of the situation. He modeled the client’s future cash flows to ensure compatibility with his financial plan and worked closely with the outside attorney to ensure all non-tax concerns were also addressed.

Additionally, Andy has experience successfully managing large tax outsourcing engagements and educating his clients to help them understand a variety of technical tax issues.

Andy is a member of the Cleveland Estate Planning Council, American Institute of CPAs and Ohio Society of CPAs. He is a speaker at the Jewish Federation of Cleveland Charitable Tax Seminar, Mahoning-Shenango Valley Estate Planning Council, various national webinars and client tax trainings. Andy also serves as a volunteer on the AICPA Trust, Estate and Gift Tax Technical Resource Panel.

Andy lives in Cleveland, Ohio, with his wife and children. He enjoys outdoor sports including trail running, cross country skiing and cycling. Serious about the sport of cycling, Andy rode the Register’s Annual Great Bicycle Ride Across Iowa (RAGBRAI) — a seven-day, 450-mile bike ride from one end of Iowa to the other.
